Who the service provides for

A Child with a West Essex GP requiring a referral into children’s Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy need to obtain a referral.

Referrals will be accepted by:

  • GPs
  • Health Visitors
  • School Health Nurses
  • Acute and community paediatric health services
  • Schools and Early Years settings
  • Children’s Social Care and Preventative Services

Inclusion criteria

  • The service is provided to all children and young people with special needs aged 0-19 (up to 25 for young people with SEND)
  • The child or young person (up to the age of 18) requires Musculoskeletal or Physiotherapy support
  • Any child or young person with a west Essex GP
  • The child or young person will have significant difficulty with 2 or more areas of everyday functional skills that Occupational Therapy can impact on e.g. eating, dressing, sitting, pencil skills, play/leisure activities
  • Referrals for children requiring assessment for specialist equipment to facilitate hospital discharge or for palliative care and short term loan
