Early Years Funding – Disability Access Fund (DAF)
The Disability Access Fund is a one-off annual payment of £615. It is paid directly to the childcare setting who must work with the parent to decide how it should be spent to best support the child.
Eligible children must be:
- in receipt of child disability living allowance (DLA)
- accessing their free early Education entitlement (FEEE) for 3 and 4 year olds
It can be used by the setting to make reasonable adjustments and to help remove any barriers which prevent a child from accessing their FEEE.
Providers can claim the funding once the parent/carer has nominated them as the main provider of their child’s FEEE and demonstrated their child is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance.
Four year olds in primary and infant school reception classes are NOT eligible for DAF funding.
