Practical Parenting Workshops

The Essex SEND Information Advice and Support Service (SEND IASS) are holding FREE workshops for parents/carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Date: Thursday 22 April 2021
Time: Registration 9.15 to 9.50am
Location: Zoom online (login details will be sent following confirmation of booking)

There will be a choice of two workshops in the morning and two in the afternoon (you can attend one AM/PM workshop or both if you wish). These are to offer knowledge and skills which you can then adapt for use at home.

(AM) Key Transitions from year 9 and beyond Richard Davies
Workshop Aim: To learn when key transitions and stages are and plan for the next steps after school.

(AM) ADHD and coexisting conditions Steve Challen
Workshop aim:. This workshop will touch on elements of anxieties, tics, compulsions and education advice on how best to support and understand your child’s needs.

(PM) Effective Communication David Thomson and Linda Mitchell
Workshop Aim: Developing effective relationships between parents/carers and the education settings.

(PM) Behaviour and communication in children with SEND Tasha (Dream Box Education)
Workshop Aim: Understand your SEN child’s behaviour and communications: The way we act is based upon the way we think and feel. In this session we will look at what your child’s behaviour is telling you and how best you can support.
