Lessons Learnt from Lockdown

Between February and March 2021, as part of the Making Participation Work programme, which is funded by the Department for Education and jointly delivered by Council for Disabled Children (CDC) and KIDS, the Council for Disabled Children commissioned Kaizen to deliver an England wide consultation with children and young people with special education needs and disabilities (SEND).

Over 600 children and young people, 128 parents and 110 professionals contributed their views and experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic and how this has impacted their lives. This is the largest consultation to date with children and young people with SEND, to explore the impact of the pandemic on their lives and to understand their support needs moving forward.

We are extremely proud to mention that 7 young people from across Essex contributed to this report, including 4 from The Multi Schools Council.
