Adult Community Learning (ACL)

ACL Essex offers a wide range of day time and evening adult learning courses to help you improve your job prospects, learn a new skill or simply inspire you. Some of our courses lead to qualifications, some don’t, but they all give you the chance to learn something new.

ACL supports Essex residents and businesses by providing the following:

  • Pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships
  • Free English, maths and functional skills
  • GCSEs (English, maths and science)
  • Study programmes (16-18) years
  • Professional qualifications
  • Family learning programmes
  • Courses for people with learning disabilities

The courses for those with learning disabilities are dividied into 3 groups;

  1. Courses for well being and creativity for example arts and crafts, dance, painting and baking
  2. Courses to improve English and Maths – these are free courses
  3. Pathways to employment courses, which are for learners who want to develop skills for work in various aspects.
