Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder Specialist Nurse – West Essex
This specialist nursing service works alongside the Community Paediatric Team at the Child Development Centre in Harlow.
The nurse role supports with the assessment of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and once the diagnosis is made the nurse offers every family an invitation to “A What’s Next Workshop”.
This service also provides support and training to schools and works with many other professionals and charities to support the child and family.
The ADHD nurse works with the ADHD Nurse in adult services to provide a smooth transition into the Adult ADHD service when they leave our service at the age of 18 years old where this is appropriate.
For those children and young people diagnosed with ADHD, the parents are offered a place on one of the parenting groups which take place every term over a three-week period. Each session is for 90 minutes via Microsoft Teams.
The sessions run during the day and also some evenings are also available. Attending this group provides a better understanding of ADHD and provides parents with strategies to help support their child in living with this condition.
Who the service provides for
This service is only available to those children and young people undergoing an assessment for ADHD or diagnosed with ADHD in the care of the Child Development Centre.

08.30am – 16:30pm Monday to Friday
