Brook – Sexual Health Service
Brook offers free, confidential sexual health and wellbeing services to young people under 25. Trained doctors, nurses, counsellors, wellbeing support workers and education specialists provide professional advice.
The Brook team in Essex and Thurrock supports young people in the local area by providing:
- advice, support and education around sexual health. This might be around:
- healthy relationships
- safely challenging risky behaviour
- sex and the Law
- a 1:1 programme called My Life
- targeted education sessions within schools
- training for professionals that work with young people
By providing relationship and sex education, Brook in Essex helps young people to make informed decisions and provides them with knowledge to support their emotional wellbeing.
On their website, families and carers can also find advice on talking about sex and relationships to a young person with a learning disability.
Who the service provides for
Brook works with young people under the age of 25.
The My Life programme is suitable for young people over 11 years. The rest of the work they do is age appropriate.
Hours of operation
Monday to Friday, with limited availability during school holidays. Times vary but are usually based on the average school hours.
