CHIPS – Children with Hearing Impairment Play and Stay
CHIPS is a ‘Play and Stay’ communication session, led by Teachers of the Deaf and facilitated by Family Support Keyworkers from the Specialist Teaching and Preschool Service, for preschool children with a hearing impairment.
The groups form part of the service’s Early Intervention programme for hearing impaired children, and they enable parents to meet other families in their locality with young deaf children.
The Play and Stay sessions provide a range of structured, topic-based activities to support and encourage communication and language, including sing and sign, music, free play, craft activity and story time.
The groups operate in different localities across Essex, once a week during term-time.
Mid Essex group (Chelmsford)
North East Essex group: (Colchester)
South Essex group: (Billericay)
West Essex group: (Harlow)
