Essex Youthbuild is a charity and small training provider offering Level 1 City & Guilds vocational training in Construction covering brickwork, woodwork and maintenance to disadvantaged young people aged between 14 and 18. We are also running a pilot Level 1 City & Guilds qualification in Horticulture for those post 16. It is a rolling programme and referrals can be made at any time.
The programme includes 1 to 1 tuition in Numeracy and Literacy for post 16 trainees, alongside the CITB Health, Safety and Environment practice and test (CSCS), First Aid and Manual Handling training. Sessions working towards an OCN in Careers are also offered.
Post 16 trainees have their transport costs reimbursed and may receive a £30 bonus each week for full attendance and good behaviour. Safety boots have to be bought by the trainee but the cost of the boots is reimbursed (up to £20) once they have passed their assessment period.
