Families InFocus – Essex

Families InFocus provide confidential, independent, practical and emotional support to families in Essex with a child or young person with any Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND). We provide:

One to one support, advice and guidance to families:

  • Helping families to complete disability benefits applications.
  • Giving advice on housing and social care issues.
  • Supporting with all SEND educational issues. This includes Education and health care (EHC) needs assessments and EHC plans. We also help with preparing for and attending tribunals.

We offer advice and information on processes, support at meetings and help with paperwork. We do this in person, online and via email.

  • A 2 hour, weekend activity club for SEND children, their families and siblings. It gives children a chance to let off steam, make friends, and learn new skills. It also raises their self- esteem and enhances their personal and social skills. We run one every Saturday in Chelmsford, and are setting up one in the North of the County from early 2022.
  •  Workshops, coffee mornings and drop in sessions.

The focus of our support is to build trusting relationships with your family. We identify specific outcomes for your child and family, and tailor our support to your needs.
