
Mersea Island Festival
The Mersea Island Festival brings together children, young people and adults with and without a disability. Families, inclusive clubs and youth groups are also all welcome.
The festival takes place every August, with a different theme.
Activities
The activities on offer help to challenge, build confidence and feelings of self-worth. Activities may include:
- archery
- inflatables
- zip wire
- climbing
- live music, discos and karaoke
- circus skills
- swimming
- speed boating
- fishing
- art activities
- pitch and putt
- big screen cinema
- quad bikes
Accommodation
Usually, people sleep under canvas tents. If individuals are unable to sleep in a tent then there are some cabins available.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in a dining hall. The staff aim to meet individual dietary requirements. Other snacks and drinks are also available and a bar is open during the entertainment each evening.
Staff support
The team of volunteers are not able to provide one-to-one support or personal care. If personal assistance is needed, they ask that people come along with a friend, buddy or support worker.

The Festival brings together children, young people and adults with or without a physical or learning disability and are ideal for families with disabled young people as well as Inclusive clubs, Phab and Gateway clubs and Youth Groups.
