
North East Essex – Speech and Language Therapy for Adults
The Speech and Language Therapy Service supports people aged 16 and above who have a speech, language, communication, voice and/or swallowing problem. They provide:
- assessment
- individual and group therapy
- practical advice
- education and self-management advice for patients, carers and family
- communication aids or referral for specialist equipment when clinically required
Conditions include:
- dementia
- traumatic brain injury
- cerebral palsy
- long term conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis.
The Speech and Language Therapy Service also offer a service for dysfluency (stammering) and voice feminization.

Who the service provides for
16 year olds and above who are registered with a GP in Colchester, Tendring and/or an inpatient at Harwich or Clacton Community Hospitals.
