
NHS Wheelchair Service – Basildon, Billericay, Wickford and Thurrock
The wheelchair service provide wheelchairs and other equipment to children and adults with long term and complex needs in Basildon, Billericay, Wickford and Thurrock.
Once you have been assessed, equipment may be provided, including:
- manual wheelchairs
- specialist children’s buggies
- powered wheelchairs for indoor and indoor/outdoor independent use
- wheelchair accessories
- wheelchair cushions
- supportive seating systems for wheelchairs
Who the service provides for
Adults or children in need of a wheelchair because of a permanent disability, who are registered with a GP in Basildon, Billericay, Wickford or Thurrock.
Hours of operation
Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm.
How the service is accessed
You must be referred by a healthcare professional, such as a GP, occupational therapist or physiotherapist.
Once you are registered with the wheelchair service, you can self refer.
