What pupils say about VI support in Essex mainstream schools

Specialist Teachers (VI) will seek the views of pupils on the type of support they find they useful to achieve what is important to them. Strategies to achieve this include:

C on braillenote

“In lessons I have my work brailled up for me. Most of my lessons apart from Maths and German are all printed out on the braillenote, which is a small computer that has braille and it can do all sorts of different things – such as you can copy work from it on a memory stick to go into a computer and that’s how I get most of my homework.”

“Sometimes colour matters because when I was in PE they had like yellow spots on the yellow floor and that was really difficult to see. My teacher for the visually impaired comes in and helps the other teachers to know what they have got to do to help me.”
