Essex’s Written Statement of Action
April 16, 2020
From 30 September to 4 October 2019, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) visited Essex to inspect how effectively the local area fulfil their responsibilities for children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
Ofsted published the inspection report letter on their website. You can find a link to the report in this letter.
Essex County Council and the five clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) jointly submitted a written statement of action, which had been co-produced in partnership with the independent parent/carer forum, Essex Family Forum on 27 March 2020.
Ofsted and CQC deemed the statement of action to be fit for purpose in setting out how the local area will tackle the three significant areas of weakness identified in the published report letter. Ofsted acknowledged that during the current uncertainties due to COVID-19, progress through the plan may not be as at first intended.
Below, you will find both the written statement of action and the action plan that accompanies it.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has affected some initial timescales set out, the local area is committed to making the improvements identified in the report. The action plan will be regularly reviewed in response to the activities carried out.
