Joining the library in Essex is free and easy. It gives you access to:
- books, CDs and DVDs
- e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines and e-comics
- online courses and resources
- library computers (with ZoomText and audio description)
Joining can be done online or in person in any of the Essex libraries. Find your nearest library and opening times.
All libraries and mobile libraries are accessible and have induction loops.
Essex Libraries are also part of the national Autism Friendly Libraries programme, so if your child needs any extra support when you visit the library please ask staff for help.
Library cards and membership types
The memberships page on the Essex Libraries website has information on the different types of membership, including the Access card.
The Access card is for adults and children who have difficulties accessing print. This card gives free access to all audio and DVD collections.
